We have all had a bad hair day. For those who have learned the hard way, having a wig can be the savior you need.

If you are looking for something to wear on a frequent basis, then it is important to pick a wig that that will last for years to come.  Look of Love Wigs offers a wide variety of wigs that you can choose from. Below is simple checklist for choosing the wig for you.

  1. Synthetic wig or natural wig?

First, you need to decide the kind of wig you want. If you want a temporary wig which you will only be wearing once in a while, then go for a synthetic one. Synthetic wigs are cheaper than human hair wigs. They are also easier to maintain. Choose a natural wig if you want something more long-lasting which you will be wearing often.

  1. The wig should match your skin tone

A wig that does not match your skin tone may look unnatural on you. If you do not know your skin tone, you can follow these steps to determine if your skin tone is cool, warm, or neutral. If you have a cool skin tone, wig colors such as shiny jet black, cool blondes; apart from brown or golden undertones, and cool browns will work for you. If you have warm-toned skin, choose shades with gold tones and red-orange colors.

  1. Shop for the right shape and size

You need to determine the shape of your face to get the right wig. There are different types of face shapes such as round, heart, oval, square, diamond, oblong, and pear-shaped face. An oval-shaped face, for example, can accommodate almost any kind of weave because there is no dominant area on the face. If your face is heart-shaped, you can go with a wig that covers part of the forehead and is fuller at the jaw area. As for the size of your head, measure all round your head where the wig should pass, while placing the tape on your ears.

  1. Try the wig on to determine how comfortable you feel

Even the perfect wig may not be so comfortable to wear, but there are solutions to this. These include wig caps which are thin layers placed under the wig to prevent irritation, cushion bands filled with gel to ease wig pressure on your head, adjustable bands to keep the wig in place, and toupee clips that hold your hair and wig in place.

Once you have chosen the right wig, get a hairdresser to shape your wig to perfection. Take good care of it. Avoid exposing it to heat while cooking and drying it using a hair drier. Clean it using shampoo and conditioner every week if you wear it throughout, or 6 to 8 times after wearing it. Let it dry properly before storing or wearing it.
